Roots Raid est né en 2011 sous l’impulsion de deux amis musiciens/producteurs Natty Bass, guitariste et bassiste & Bongo B, percussionniste.
Ils fondent leur propre label Berry’s Records et créent leur studio analogique à Tours dans lequel ils conceptualisent et réalisent plus d’une dizaine de maxis vinyles depuis 2014 avec de prestigieux MCs et invités (Shanti D, Danman, Peter Youthman, Mighty Cricket..).
Après un premier opus «From the top» axé dub, roots et rub a dub sorti en 2014, et une centaine de dates en France et à l’international (Allemagne, Autriche, Belgique, Espagne, Portugal, Norvège…), Roots Raid revient avec son deuxième album « NUIT BLANCHE» composé de 18 morceaux sur le label ODGprod. Un double album sur lequel les toasters Cookah et Likkle Ferguson viennent poser leurs voix et leurs textes. Avec «NUIT BLANCHE», Roots Raid réinvente son style, à la croisée des genres, entre deep dub, stepper, bass music, cumbia et neo soul, tout en puisant dans les racines des débuts roots et reggae.
Un double album éclectique et assumé qui reflète les influences qui ont inspiré Roots Raid sur les 4dernières années. Un projet enrichi par de nombreuses collaborations et featuring: Panda Dub, Dawa Hifi, Mael Cageron.
Après un single « Rooty Cowboy » co-produit avec Panda Dub en avril 2022, qui évoquait le voyage initiatique d’un jeune Cowboy devenant adulte, Nuit Blanche explore de nombreux univers, de la voie lactée (« Calling the universe », « Milky Way »…), aux temps modernes (« Modern Times ») en passant par la transidentité (« Transgender ).

improving the mindset of « do it yourself » in his own analogic studio, recording the greater part of instruments and dealing with oldschool mixing techniques. Influenced by modern sounds of the new European scene and by the « rub a dub style », musical movement which revolutionized the reggae in the early 80s at the legendary Jamaican studio Channel One. Since 2014, he multiplies some vinyls release in his own label Berry’s Records with featuring like Shanti D / Ramon Judah / Peter Youthman / Danman.. ans with other label with his first LP album « From the Top »on odgprod.com included featuring like Ranking Joe / Mighty Cricket… He also collaborated with Vibronics & Parvez on Skanklab Records (France, 2016), African Simba on Lions Den Records (Berlin,2017), High Tone & Kaly Live Dub Remix on Jarring Effect (France,2018) He is currently building some new material for his 2nd Lp album with upcoming duo singers Cookah & Likkle Ferguson, which it should be release in early 2020. Il progetto Roots Raid nasce ne 2011 a Bourges, Francia. E ‘stato creato da due amici storici : NATTY (bassista dei ONDUBGROUND) e BONGO BEN (ROD ANTON E LIGERIANS), ispirato da una passione comune: la amore per la Dub music.
I due amici hanno una forte mentalità del «do it yourself» quando lavorano nel proprio studio analogico, registrando realmente la maggior parte degli strumenti e utilizzando tecniche di missaggio oldschool. Influenzati dal sound della nuova scena europea e dal «rub a dub style», movimento musicale che ha rivoluzionato il reggae, nei primi anni ’80 nel mitico studio giamaicano Channel One.
ROOTS RAID offre la sua visione personale della musica dal gusto roots e dub, concentrata su basso e batteria potente e minimale, accompagnati da effetti vintage e psichedelici. Una vibes unica, senza tempo e da ballare..
