DUB ENGINE est un duo live dub né à Bologne en 2009. Basses rugueuses, synthés acides optimistes, échos infinis sont la marque de la «psycho-steppa», leur expression originale du dub dans laquelle voix, effets et lignes de basse explosent dans un rythme intense. impact sonore avec un contenu psychédélique élevé.
Ils ont partagé la scène avec des artistes internationaux de musique dub, apportant leur live dans les principaux festivals et clubs d’Europe et d’outre-mer.
En 2010 ils sortent « Dub Engine », leur première web-release de 8 titres sous licence libre Creative Commons, avant de publier le vinyle 7 ‘‘ « Rude Boy » pour le label français Dubatriation Records, morceau sélectionné dans les sessions dub de Jah Shaka. En août 2017, le duo sort « Psychosteppa », un album disponible en téléchargement gratuit sur le netlabel français ODGProd.
Ils ont récemment participé au projet « High Tone Remixed-Dub to Dub » avec le remix de la chanson « Emperor Dub » et le chant de Sabry dans « Enter the Dragon », à l’occasion du vingtième anniversaire du groupe français High Tone : un compilation d’anthologies de chansons remixées par 12 artistes de la nouvelle génération dub.
« You Can Call Me Crazy » est le dernier single sorti, une puissante chanson dub-steppe sur l’émancipation des femmes.
Live and studio dub project founded in Bologna in 2009. Ruff bass, acid upbeat synths and infinite delays are the trademark of Engine’s “psycho-steppa” sound, an original dub musical expression where voices, effects and basslines explode in an intense high-impact psychedelic sound.
They’ve shared the stage with international dub artists, spreading their psycho-steppa vibes in most of the festivals/clubs all over Europe and overseas.
Revealed in 2010 with “Dub Engine”, a 8-track release under free CC license, they appeared on several european compilations before signing “Rude Boy” in 2011 on Dubatriation Records, their first 7 ‘’ vinyl release, song selected in the Jah Shaka dub sessions. In August 2017 the album “Psychosteppa” is released, available for free download on ODGProd netlabel. In 2018 they took part of “High Tone Remixed-Dub to Dub” project with their remixed version of the song “Emperor Dub” and Sabry vocals in “Enter The Dragon” for High Tone french dub band 20th anniversary: a compilation of anthological High Tone songs remixed by 12 artists of the new Dub generation.
“You Can Call Me Crazy” is their last released single, a heavy dub-steppa song about female empowerment.
